Jasmine rice is an aromatic long-grain that’s popular in Thai and other Southeast Asian cuisines. It was named after Jasmine flower. It has a nice smell even at extremely low concentrations. It can be perfectly made with the right water-to-rice ratio. it’s a versatile side dish that pairs well with curries, stir-fries, and more.

Follow these simple steps to achieve a perfect, aromatic jasmine rice any time you desire.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup jasmine rice

  • 1 1/4 cups water

  • 1/2 tsp salt (optional)

Directions

  • Rinse the Rice; When you rinse the rice, you remove excess starch and ensure a better texture. Pour the rice in a strainer and rinse it under cool running water, stir the grains with your fingers until the water is clear.
  • Combine Rice and Water; Put the rinsed rice into a pot. Add water and salt (if using). Gently stir with a rice paddle to spread the salt evenly.
  • Bring to a Boil; Place the pot on the stove and allow the mixture to boil. Once it’s boiled, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot and simmer for 15-18 minutes. Ensure not to remove the so it doesn’t release the steam needed for cooking.
  • Let it Steam; After it steams, bring down the pot from the stove. let it sit for an additional 10 minutes, so it can absorb the remaining moisture, making it a perfectly cooked grains.
  • Fluff and Serve; Then, open the pot and fluff the rice with a rice paddle to separate the grains and release any remaining steam. Serve the rice hot. you can garnish with chopped green onions or cilantro if desired.

About Yummy Tips:

  • To ensure even heat distribution and prevent steam from escaping, use a heavy-bottomed pot with a tight-fitting lid,
  • Substitute chicken or vegetable broth for the water to have an added flavor.
  • To avoid being mushy, don’t overcook the rice. Check at the 15-minute mark and adjust cooking time accordingly.
  • For a perfect texture, make sure the rice sit off the stove for at least 10 minutes.
